Clarins SOS Primer

A few weeks ago a good friend of mine told me about the Clarins SOS Primer. Normally I don’t like the primers. Usually I just use my day cream as my primer. And that works perfectly for me. But because she was so enthusiastic about it, I only bought one. And in this blog post, I share my review with you.

Clarins SOS Primer in the Colors Universal light, Rose, Peach, Coral Green and Lavender
The primers

Clarins first came out with  6 SOS primers in different colors. Later, 1 more was added, which is specially meant for  thetinted skin. In principle, they all do the same, but each color also has its own additional effect. So it’s up to you to choose which one will suit you best.

Universal Light: Gives shine a boost and illuminates the face for radiant skin.
Rose: Reduces signs of fatigue and revitalizes the complexion.
Peach: Makes irregularities less visible and smoothes the complexion.
Coral: Corrects dark spots and smoothes the complexion.
Green: Reduces redness and smoothes the complexion.
Lavender: Gives a gray skin a fresh glow and smoothes the yellowish skin.

Clarins SOS primer for the deep skin Tone

Because I’m a chocolate, I choose the one that is specially developed for the dark complex. And my review is also based on this product.

First, what a beautiful and luxurious package! The brown with gold and white accents exudes luxury. This is really the aesthetic appearance that I love. I also like the size. It is not too big or too small and fits easily in your toilet bag. I also like that it’s in a tube form. That makes it light and easy to take with you. Furthermore, it comes with a pump. Wich, I think is really great. It speeds up the application process because I can now directly pump the number of desired products. And everything stays clean because it doesn’t splash everywhere.

What does it do?

What a primer does is actually ensure that your makeup stays in place for much longer. But according to Clarins, the SOS primer does more than this.

  • Make-up primer
  • Complexion correction
  • Gives a boost to the shine and reflects the light on the face – Hydrates for 24 hours
  • Protects against harmful effects from outside
How do you apply it

I use the primer especially in the morning after my skincare routine, but before my foundation. I apply a few pumps to my foundation brush. After this I blend it on my face how I normally apply my foundation. It blends really easily and pulls into my skin right away. I don’t feel like there’s anything on my face. That’s how light it is!

In the summer weeks I prefer to wear no or minimal foundation. And to be completely honest I have been using this primer for weeks as a replacement for a foundation. It gives me sufficient coverage, corrects and camouflages my skin. It also gives my skin a nice glow. And all this while my skin just looks natural. On the days that I have more circles under my eyes, I use some extra concealer to help with camouflage. Furthermore, I do not powder it off, and it stays really well.

On the days that I want some extra coverage, I mixed it with my foundation or I apply it first and then my foundation. Also in these ways, it works really great. For someone who doesn’t really use primers regularly, I have to admit that I can’t live without this anymore.

Where to buy

The Clarins SOS primers can be purchased at Douglas and Hudson Bay. And retail around € 35,-. Unfortunately, Douglas sells the one for deep skin tone. But luckily you can get it here for € 10.50,- at the Hudson Bay. As you sit there is a huge price difference. I do not know exactly what the reason for this is, but you will not hear me complain in idd case. In case it is taken out of the assortment, I stocked mines up. So if you want to score one, I would do it quickly.

Do you use primers?
