SOS! What’s In My Skincare Product?

SOS! What’s In My Skincare Product? By Suyen Frazer

Do you ever wonder what ingredients such as vitamin C or Hyldranotic acid actually do for your skin? It’s a fact that nowadays skincare products cant be missed in our daily routine. They are everywhere! And also here on Suyenfrazer.nl I write a lot about skincare products. We often buy a product because it is recommended by someone we trust or follow. But sometimes when we actually start using the product we notice that it doesn’t solve the problem areas that we wanted. You see “all those beauty gurus and influencers only do it for the money”. Because that product is trash and does not work at all!

What we often forget is that every skin type is different. And with different problem areas. What a day cream does for another does not automatically mean that you will get the same effect. To prevent these problems, it is time for us to get to know our ingredients. Let’s go!

Retinol

We see retinol often enough in skincare products. A Retinol-based product can help improve fine lines and wrinkles. And it makes the skin visibly smoother. It is recommended to use a Retinol product once a day. Preferably do this in the evening because after using Retinol the skin is more sensitive to sunlight.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an antioxidant. Another difficult word! Briefly, explained An antioxidant is a collective name for substances such as Vitamin E and C. What it does? It protects tissues and DNA in cells against free radicals (aggressive substances).

And now back to what vitamin C actually does, and why it is useful to use. It repairs the skin, increases collagen and reduces inflammation. Let’s imagen that you are someone who suffers from hyperpigmentation. It helps to reduce these dark spots. Unfortunately, Vitamin C loses power very quickly, especially when exposed to light and air. But luckily they have discovered that if you mix vitamin C with other substances, the shelf life becomes considerably more stable. The best time to use Vitamin C is in the morning.

Niacinamide and Zinc

Zinc and Niacinamide is a perfect combination. The combination acts as an anti-inflammatory and soothes irritated skin. Because of its action that reduces oil production, you can prevent haven to deal with an acne outbreak. In addition, it reduces warts, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema and keloids. But if you also suffer from fine lines or hyperpigmentation, then especially Niacinamide is very suitable for this.

Hyaluronic acid

As we age, our skin loses moisture. The skin becomes less flexible and firm. Hyaluronic acid ensures that the moisture is retained. Making the skin softer and looking younger. Hyaluronic acid also protects against free radical damage.

I hope you found this interesting and learned more about the best-known ingredients. Of course, there are many other ingredients that are used in skincare products. So there is always enough room to find out more about it and expand our knowledge.

Do you have a preference for an ingredient that you would like to know more about?
