How To Do Soft Glam Makeup Look

All over the world, people are raving about The Soft Glam makeup look. Even celebrities like Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, and Jessica Alba are adoring this type of makeup. In February 2018 makeup brand Anastasia Beverly Hills come out with a palette named “Soft Glam” with eyeshadow colors that looks good on everybody. And from that time on, more makeup brands like @Bitebeauty, @Honest_beauty, @glossier and many more come out with beauty products to create a soft look. But What exactly is soft glam? Let’s take a look!

For me, a soft look is a dewy skin, fresh look, and glossy lips. And like you can see in the first photo. That is exactly what I went for.

When you look up what the definition of the word soft means, you will stump on to not hard or firm, subtle effect, and gentle.

hydrated smooth skin

The first step is to have a well-prepped base. I can’t express how important skincare is. Even if you don’t care about makeup, please take good care of your skin. You will need it for the rest of your life. And believe me, when the skin is well hydrated and glowy. Your makeup application will go on so easily and beautifully.

sheer foundation and concealer

When your skin is dewy and bright, is time to use some foundation. A bb cream is also an option if you like to keep things light. But if you are like me, and want more coverage a sheer foundation is the way to go. There are plenty of these out there. My favorites are Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and the Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation. These foundations blend nicely into the skin. And keeps the skin looking glowy but not too shiny. For concealer, I prefer a full coverage one. One that doesn’t crease or looks cakey. I love the L’oreal infallible concealer or Nars soft matte complete concealer. Using your finger is the best way to blend in the concealer effortlessly. But in case you want to use a brush I strongly recommend the Real Techniques settings brush. It blends in the foundation and concealer beautifully. You all heard about the concept of baking. Please leave this for another time. If you want to set that concealer just apply some translucent powder and gently brush away the excess powder. Charlotte Tilbury Translucent powder is my go-to.

cheeks and contour

Harsh contouring is a no-no when it comes to a soft glam makeup look. To give the face more dimension go for a foundation that is 2 shades deeper than your skin tone. Foundation doesn’t create harsh edges but still gives the face enough depth. I like to smile to see exactly where the highest points of my cheeks are. And then I apply my contour around it. When you suck in your cheeks, you lose dimension and create a hollow area that can sit lower than your actual cheeks. Now you can also highlight the highest parts and apply blush.

Tip: Go easy and light with blush and highlight. Moderation is key. Try to use a cream blush, this blend in easier.

eyes and shadows

As I said, there’s plenty of pallets out there to create a good soft look. But I love to use my ABH Soft Glam pallet. But Huda Beauty Nude Obsession palette is also a great option.

Before I start to put on any shadow on my lid I like to warm up my lid. With that, I mean using a shadow that is as close to your natural skin tone as possible. I rather start light and build up the intensity and gradation. When you want to create a soft look with colors. Option for pastel colors on the light complexion. Rosy tones on medium skin tones, and gold, reds, and corals on deeper skin tones. To give the look a little more of an edge I used dark brown eyeshadow on a small brush to create a wing.

It’s up to you to decide if you want to use false eyelashes. Otherwise, a layer of mascara is good enough. If you want some falsies, Ardell’s wispies are not too dramatic and natural-looking.

Try to fill them in light. Using a pencil-like My Brow Pencil from Benefit gives you more application control. And set them in with a brow gel.

glossy lips

Gloss and nude lips are the best choices when it comes to a soft look. And again pick a color as close to your natural lip color or tongue. My lips are naturally a little bit pink/reddish. For this practically look I wanted a rosy gloss lip. So I used Nyx lip cream in the color Berlin and on top of that Estee Lauder Pure Color Love Limo Lights (sparkle)

finishing touches

To complete the look, use a settings spray. Spray this on the sides of your face and your good to go. This helps in sealing your makeup and giving it a soft and glowy look. My recommendation? Anastasia Beverly Hills Dewy Settings spray and Mac Cosmetics fix plus.

I would love to hear your thoughts about this look in the comments bare.
